Grant Funding Available for Human Services

COVID-19 Food Security & Emergency Human Services Grants
Posted on 05/04/2020
The Woodinville City Council has become aware of a growing need for emergency assistance among community members most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In April, City Council allocated $100,000 as part of a new Food Security Grant Program to provide grant funding to local food bank and meal programs. The funding is intended to help these nonprofit organizations scale-up and meet demand. Grants will be distributed over time based on need through the end of 2020. To date, the City has granted $30,000 to the Northshore Senior Center and $25,000 to the Woodinville Storehouse Food Bank.

An additional Emergency Human Services Grant Program was established by City Council on April 28 to provide up to $100,000 in grant funding to eligible nonprofit organizations providing emergency services and basic assistance to Woodinville residents beyond the needs addressed by the Food Security Grant Program. These needs may include food, essential personal items, temporary shelter, or other emergency aid for Woodinville residents. Local non-profits and faith-based organizations may request funds from the City during the COVID-19 pandemic. View the establishing resolution to learn more about the program.

At their May 19th Meeting, the City Council awarded $51,375 in Emergency Human Services grant funding to seven faith-based and non-profit organizations providing food and basic services to Woodinville area residents. The remaining $46,625 will be award on a rolling, first-come-first-serve basis in June and July.
